![]() Put it back together and still same problem. I took the carb off and cleaned it… Main jets were gross with a greenish film…. I read all these comments and was having the same exact problem… Started and idled fine, but missed and bogged down under full throttle. The overall length should be approximately 3mm more than before. Now connect the choke’s electrical leads to a 12v power source.Measure the overall length of the choke from end-to-end, including the very tip of the needle.Remove choke assembly from the choke holder on the side of the carburetor. What we usually see with a bad auto-choke is that the engine will start up and run great cold, but as the engine warms up there will be problems driving, starting, and/or idling. This happens within a couple of minutes as the engine warms up. When the engine is turned on and voltage is applied to the choke, the needle extends and eventually plugs the enrichment ports within the carburetor. When your engine is off, the choke (enrichment circuit) is actually “on” in it’s default resting state. ![]() This circuit is controlled by the charging system. If this resister goes bad, the choke will likely become damaged shortly thereafter. Only thing was setting the lever to Res, I expected it to work the same as On, but fuel coming from the lower Res stem, but it doesn't seem to allow fuel at all, but not a big deal since Pri will serve that purpose. The function of the choke resistor is to make sure that your choke doesn’t get hit with a deadly dose of over-voltage at high engine RPMs. I'm not sure if I've made a mistake here, but I like the idea of an automatic fuel shutoff, and if there's an issue, I can just set it to Pri, and it bypasses the vacuum shut off and just allows fuel to drain through the lower Res stem. So I found a splitter, and I split vacuum off my fuel pump to the new pet cock, and it seems to work well. So I read up on it, sounded cool, the vacuum connection means that you just leave the lever set to on, and it automatically cuts fuel when the engine is off. Wheras the original petcock only had on/off/res and just fuel out. It had on/res/pri as the level selections, and along with fuel out, had a connection for (I discovered) vacuum in. But when it arrived, I realized it was different than the original. So I went on amazon.ca and bought the cheapest petcock I could find, like $13.99. ![]() ![]() I suspected the fuel petcock because I was shutting the fuel off when I wasn't using it, and I knew the filter/stems in the tank were looking rough last time I shone a flashlight into an empty tank. After getting my quadrunner going again (voltage regulator issue in other posts), it ran well, but a couple of times I had trouble getting it started. ![]()
